Flight Plan for 2013

Flight Plan for 2013

Happy New Year!

This New Year will be extra special for all of us at FanBox, as you’ll see below.

As you know, together we’ve been preparing to fly:

To accomplish our mission, we need to soar high.

So let’s light this baby up and set it free.

So, what’s next for us — in 2013?

First, a quick reminder on the first 6 major parts of our flying vehicle (1-6) — developed prior to 2012:
1. Community

The most perfect community is one in which the middle class is in control, and outnumbers both of the other classes.

First and foremost, we are a community.

It is through our sharing and feeling each other’s energy and encouragement that we gain the vision and ideas; and the motivation, determination and strength to keep marching forward…

… despite the many obstacles that naturally come our way.

Example enabling product features:

Homepage feed
Profile and photo album
Inbox and emails
Blog posts and comments
Fans and Friends

2. FanBox Bank

Happiness: a good bank account, a good cook, and a good digestion.

– Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Our Mission:

To uplift humanity by enabling opportunity.

By “opportunity”, we mean a few things, and the financial opportunity – money — is most definitely one of them.

So immediately following our community features, we needed a working bank.

After the community and bank features, we developed the knowledge roles, so we could all get productive:

3. Knowledge Producing (Blogging)

Knowledge is power.

-Francis Bacon

Embracing the Knowledge Revolution

Very few of us are working on the farms or in the factories. We’re knowledge workers.

The ability to insert and publish the knowledge in our heads was the logical next add-ons to the community and bank.

Blogging Editor

4. Knowledge Promoting (Advertising)

A little knowledge that acts is worth infinitely more than much knowledge that is idle.

-Khalil Gibran

Knowledge sitting in a blog somewhere — quietly collecting dust — does no one any good.

Example enabling product features:

FanBox feed stories
FanBox Ads
Likes and reposts
Facebook, Twitter and email distribution

5. Knowledge Investing (Boosting)

Invest in the human soul. Who knows, it might be a diamond in the rough.

-Mary McLeod Bethune

Using our money to help our neighbors promote their knowledge, is a noble deed.

And it helps us earn more too.

6. Knowledge Teaching

The whole art of teaching is only the art of awakening the natural curiosity of young minds for the purpose of satisfying it afterwards.

-Anatole France

Why keep a good thing to yourself?

Helping your friends learn how to earn is also a noble deed.

Teacher features

But those features all launched before 2012.

In 2012, FanBoxers designed, built and launched the next 4 parts (7-10):

7. Knowledge Educating (Coaching)

If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and don’t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.

-Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Just like how education is the key to the future of countries, Success Coaching holds the key to this community’s future.

Example enabling product features:

SC Client Center
SC Power Team page
SC quality control audit tool

8. Knowledge Providing (Selling)

Wealth, like happiness, is never attained when sought after directly. It comes as a by-product of providing a useful service or product.

-Henry Ford

The ability to earn by providing products and services was a major addition to the product suite this year.

Example enabling product features:

Marketplace features

9. Credit system (IPL)

Remember that credit is money.

-Benjamin Franklin

The ability for the new FanBoxer to start earning immediately, without waiting, has made a large impact towards fulfillment of the community’s mission.

Example enabling product features:

IPL features

10. Political system

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.

The ability for the community to take charge of its own destiny, and change the direction of the product focus, rules and even the company, will change everything.

Political communication and voting features (about to be launched)

So, what does 2013 have in store for us?

Before we rush off to develop totally new products suites, let’s now work to create excellence in the products that we are already using.

Up to now, FanBox engineering has been working to get parts 1-10 launched…

… which meant that they haven’t had a chance to stop and focus on the next versions of each of those products – and make them truly excellent.
Here’s some things you can expect to see in 2013:

 — Enhanced community and communication tools
— Interactive Bank with more details and expandable summary rows
— Next generation blogging editor including templates
— Completely re-architected Ad serving tools, controls, statistics and graphs
— Enhanced Boosting stats and graphs, and increase earning capabilities
— Enhanced teaching tools, including the ability to send IPL to friends
— New SC efficiency tools, including AI (artificial intelligence) auto-responders, enhanced audit tools, and improved videos

But that list just scratches the surface:

There are 75 more such upgrades in the design & re-architecture phase…

… but rather than list those features here…

… it’s important to point out that someone new will be in control of the product and engineering focus.

Who will be in control?

YOU will elect your Success Coach to the office of Senator or Congressman / Congresswoman…

… simply by exercising your power to instantly move to the SC that can serve you best.

And YOU will be voting to elect the new FanBox President…

… who will physically move to California to become hyper-focused on ensuring that:

YOUR best product ideas are launched…

… YOUR top issues are corrected…

…  and YOUR favorite features are enhanced.

And if you don’t like the way things are going at FanBox, you can fire the person running it.

That’s what freedom is all about…

… and it is my strong opinion that it has the potential to change everything at FanBox, of course…

… but also become a model for how all companies should be run:

   With their customers in control.

2013 is about FanBox becoming more responsive to your needs…

… removing those pesky bugs or issues that drive you nuts…

… and adding tools and technologies to increase your efficiency and enjoyment…

… so that you can increase your earnings while having more fun in the process.

I’d like to take a moment to thank you:

… for caring & trusting so much

… for continually prioritizing the good of the community and the mission, above your own shorter-term interests

… for your patience and flexibility with all the issues…

… as FanBox worked to develop this massive, unprecedented software project that transcends social networking, banking, content management, advertising, political science, commerce and organizational management…

… all while doing it without any outside funding whatsoever…

… to decrease the odds that it might lose its ability to keep you, the customer, as its only North Star.

And thanks for all the optimism & love you pour into the community and towards each other.

It is that optimism & love that have been the oxygen and lubricant that made it possible for employees, Success Coaches, and members to not just survive together – but push forward together.

2012 was a good year – with the introduction of most of the Success Coaching program, Marketplace, IPL and development of the Political System.

I predict that 2013 will be a great year, as we finally get a chance to work to make the products excellent…

… with YOU in the driver’s seat…

… so that the things that truly matter to all FanBoxers are front & center to the company’s path.

So, here’s to everything that 2013 can mean to you, your family and our community’s mission.

Have a great flight!
