IMPACT OF SHOOL FEEDING PROGRAMM ON ENROLMENT AND RETENTION IN PURBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Combating starvation and improving education are two celebrated causes. Infact, the first two millennium development goals are to end hunger and achieve universal education feeding programs are positioned at the expense of these two objectives; they can potentially increase enrolment while lowering malnutrition. To illustrate a recent report by world bank described school feeding programs as “an important new opportunity to assist poor families and hungry children and state that they can provide an incentive for poor families to send their children to school”(Herz & Sperling, 2003)
